Introducing our First White PaperSubmitted by Affiance Financial on November 12th, 2016

As a follow-up to National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we are proud to announce the publication of our first white paper — Cybersecurity: Protection and Prevention in the Digital World. This white paper delves into issues such as what dangers currently exist, how to protect yourself, and what to do if your information has been compromised. We are really proud of our team for putting this together.
You may ask, why would a financial planning organization write a white paper on cybersecurity? Wouldn’t a white paper on investment management, financial planning, or legacy be more fitting? While all of these topics are important, and we definitely have some strong opinions on them, we chose cybersecurity for the following reasons:
- Unlike the other topics, cybercrime rarely comes up in our client meetings.
- Nevertheless, cybercrime is affecting our clients on a regular basis.
- We know of clients whose lives have been affected by cybercrime.
- A top concern among clients is knowing that both their data and investments are secure.
We want to give clients the comfort of knowing that we are taking this issue very seriously. Our firm has spent time developing policies and procedures and training staff to help ensure that client data is not compromised. Please see more in the post by our chief compliance officer, Eric Unger. We also have a guest post by Steven E. Warren about Tax Identity Theft.

Finally, here is the link to our white paper. We would be honored to have you download, read, and share it.
We hope you enjoy and would appreciate any feedback you have.
